Uber: Your Luxury Private Ride on Demand

The Urban Dictionary defines ‘uber’ as “ultimate, above all, the best.” For a San Francisco company established in 2009 “Uber” is a single word that describes the philosophy behind what they do.

Uber is an up-and-coming company that has combined modern technology with the age-old business of livery. They provide luxury transportation around 10 of the world’s most sought-after cities based on a technology-driven model never before used in the livery industry.

How does it work?

Uber contracts with professional drivers to transport you and your guests in a luxury vehicle. With a smart phone app you simply select your location on a map; logon with your laptop and type in your address; or use an SMS message to text your location if you’re in the U.S. or Canada. Then just sit back and wait for a sleek black car to pull up minutes later.

Currently Uber services the following 15 cities:

  • Boston
  • Charlotte (for the 2012 DNC)
  • Chicago
  • The Hamptons
  • London
  • Los Angeles
  • New York
  • Paris
  • Philadelphia
  • San Diego
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Toronto
  • Vancouver
  • Washington, DC

When you ride with Uber your fee is calculated using a base fare plus mileage and driver tip; everything is automatically charged to your credit card so there’s no need to exchange cash with the driver. Uber is the most convenient way to arrange private luxury transportation around the city of your choice.

Make no mistake; Uber is not a taxi service hiring just any driver in a yellow cab. They only dispatch the most professional drivers with high-quality, well-maintained luxury vehicles. They are available virtually 24 hours a day, seven days a week; coverage may be somewhat limited during early morning hours on weekdays.
