The opening of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation owned Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht marks the first step in the expansion of the Andaz brand into continental Europe, as well as the first Hyatt hotel in the Netherlands.
Based on the site of the former Public Library, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is surrounded by art galleries, specialty shops and sophisticated restaurants, all nurturing the varied and abundant cultural character of the city. Ideally situated within the lively Jordaan district the hotel is within close walking distance of the city’s major attractions. Taking its name from the Dutch word for ‘Prince’s Canal,’ the hotel combines the signature Andaz service and hospitality with a strong infusion of local culture and Dutch history.
Designed to reflect the lively yet traditional atmosphere that exudes from Amsterdam city, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is entrenched with historical and artistic flavors throughout the interior design. Dutch architect and designer Marcel Wanders used various sources of inspiration for his design concept, including local heritage, Dutch Delft blue, the unofficial national flower the tulip, and the literary aspect from the original building. The 117 large guest rooms and 5 suites are open-plan with en-suite bathrooms, each with a uniquely painted hand-basin, and contain a book-shaped work desk as homage to the original Public Library.
The uniquely designed ground floor of the hotel contains the restaurant, library, bar and lounge. Each functioning as a separate entity, the design concept has created a connection between each to produce a vibrant and pulsating heart to the hotel. Throughout the public areas of the ground floor, an exclusive video art collecti
on is showcased through large televisions and selections are shown through a video channel linked to guest rooms.
The Bluespoon Restaurant provides an authentic and traditional cuisine, sourcing ingredients from producers to the North of the Netherlands and through to the coastal beaches in northern France. The Chef’s own herb garden adds fresh flavor to dishes influenced by local recipes, and cooking methods such as curing and smoking add piquancy to the inventive menu. Guests may experience family style dining at the Chef’s Table, seated in the heart of the open kitchen, and sample a succession of small casserole dishes.
The Bluespoon Bar exudes relaxation and comfort in an elegant setting. Guests may sample traditional Dutch beverages at the bar or join the communal bar table where professional bartenders serve handcrafted cocktails influenced by three different eras in Dutch history.
The Studio, a concept exclusive to Andaz hotels, offers a vibrant meeting space ideal for boardroom meetings, events and receptions. With 3 Studio spaces and more than
