Now Open: Octavius Tower at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas

Caesars Palace is already one of the most popular places to be when visiting the Las Vegas strip. But with their brand-new Octavius Tower, which just opened in January, Caesars Palace takes luxury hotel accommodations and technology to new levels. The new 668-room tower is the sixth tower in the Caesars Palace complex but it’s unlike any of the previous five. It aims to provide a unique boutique-style experience focused squarely on clients who love the high tech.

At the center of Octavius Tower is a brand-new interactive app for guests accessible through any mobile browser. With the use of a smart phone, tablet, or any other mobile device with connectivity guests will be able to access most of the services available at the hotel. They’ll be able to contact the concierge to make dinner reservation, request assistance from housekeeping, order room service, and communicate with the transportation, valet, butler, and bell services. The technology of the media hub is such that it automatically detects when a device is connected to it and implements the necessary software needed to use that device. Once the device is disconnected the center automatically reverts back to television mode without the need for any programming or switching by the guest. Media hubs are compatible with all Apple devices as well as most other smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Guests can surf the Internet, check email, watch videos, and even conduct presentations while connected.

New York’s First Gay Hotel Opens in 2012

The boutique hotel is rising to new heights in New York City, as Parkview Developers plans to open the Big Apple’s first gay hotel. The OUT NYC, scheduled to open in phases throughout 2012, will be located on 42nd St. in the heart of Manhattan. Developers hope it becomes the premier resort and entertainment venue for both tourists and locals from the gay community.

The project’s first phase is the XL NIGHTCLUB, an 11,000 sq ft lounge, cabaret, and dance club set to feature noted gay entertainers John Blair and Beto Sutter. When the doors open it will be the first gay nightclub to open in the city in over a decade. Visitors can expect to see typical dance club features including several dance floors, modern LED light shows, and a state-of-the-art stage for live acts.

As for the hotel itself, current plans include a property with 105 rooms. The rooms will be designed in a chic, modern décor that speaks to the LGBT community in a way that is up-scale, classy, and sophisticated. According to officials the OUT NYC is “an idea whose time has come.” If all goes according to plans the hotel will not only be simply a place for gay tourists to stay while they’re in New York, it will become the focal point of New York City nightlife for the entire LGBT community.

To that end the hotel will also include a café and restaurant managed by the same group responsible for the success of the Eatery Restaurant in the Hell’s Kitchen district. The restaurant will include banquet space and private rooms to accommodate everything from large parties to intimate gatherings. Hotel officials also plan to provide both weddings and honeymoon packages for gay couples.

St. Regis New York – The Dior Suite

The St. Regis New York hotel is proud to announce the availability of their new Dior Suite in collaboration with the famed Parisian fashion house. This is the hotel chain’s a second joint effort with Dior, this time in a 1700-square feet space of decadent luxury. The Dior is normally a one bedroom suite with views of 5th Avenue, Central Park, and 55th St. However; it can easily be converted to a two-bedroom suite. It’s been painted almost entirely in the St. Regis signature colour known as “whispering gray”, with the finest luxury appointments included.

Guests will enjoy a full living room, dining room, one bedroom, and one-and-a-half baths. Conversion to a two-bedroom suite is accomplished by opening an adjoining room with an additional bedroom, living room, and bath. At just $8500 per night this suite may become a destination unto itself.

Guangzhou, China Hilton Opens

Visitors to Guangzhou, China now have a new luxury hotel option with the opening of the brand new Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe. Spokane’s Davenport Hotel Gives Another Reason to Visit

The historic Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane, Washington has been a favorite destination for businessmen and luxury hotel connoisseurs ever since its opening in the early 1900s. But today the hotel has given us another reason to visit; a reason that has everything to do with protecting the environment. Earlier this year the U.S. Green Building Council awarded the hotel’s famous tower LEED Gold certification for meeting green standards. It is the only hotel in the state of Washington, and only one of 33 in the entire world, to be awarded LEED Gold certification.

This achievement is nothing new for the Davenport, a world-class luxury hotel that has been leading the world for decades. When it was built the Davenport was as luxurious as the world’s finest ocean liners. And since those early years, the owners have kept the hotel at the forefront of the hospitality industry. If you’ve never visited the Davenport, it certainly belongs on your list of “must see” properties.

A Brief History

The Davenport Hotel began as a small restaurant opened by Louis Davenport in 1889 following a devastating fire that ripped through Spokane. The destruction of that fire was so complete Davenport had to open his Davenport Waffle Foundry in a tent. From those humble beginnings he expanded to a store front as his name and reputation grew. Davenport eventually purchased the building next to his and hired a local architect to make him look like a single unit. So successful was this union that it caught the eyes of businessman who wanted a grand hotel to entertain guests.

Those businesses hired Davenport and his architect, Mr. Kirtland Cutter, to design and build the Davenport Hotel. With an almost unlimited budget and a world of ideas at their fingertips, the Davenport Hotel was born. When it finally opened in 1914 in was not only the world’s most luxurious hotel, but it was also the only one to offer air conditioning, telephone service in every room, and hot and cold water at the tap – including drinking water. Quite an accomplishment for a young man who came to Spokane originally intending only to work for his uncle for the summer.

The Davenport’s Accommodations

The Davenport Hotel actually consists of two properties: the main hotel and the Davenport Tower situated just across the street. Between the two buildings the Hotel offers several different classes of rooms including Davenport Kings and Queens, Davenport Deluxe Kings and Queens, Tower Kings, Tower Deluxe Kings and Queens, and the Davenport Penthouse Kings. The smallest of rooms is a spacious 330 square feet while the Davenport penthouses are each 500 square feet.

Every room in the hotel features the famous “Davenport Bed” with fine linens covers custom-made for the hotel. You’ll also enjoy beautiful walk-in showers made of marble, luxury bath accessories from Lady Primrose, a 32-inch high definition television complete with in room movies and music, gorgeous hand-carved furniture, high-speed Internet access, LCD flat screen TV’s, an in-room safe, and a work desk.
